Lincoln Park Gets a Big Helping Hand
March 11, 2009 - Over 100 volunteer employees took
part in NG's Earth Day Clean Up Effort in Lincoln
Park. To rejuvenate its natural beauty, they cleared
over grown brush, removed debris along the trails and
lawns, removed invasive non-native plant species,
and created new planting beds.
Greeting their arrival were State Senator John
DeFranciso, City Director of Opertions Tim Carol,
Parks Commissioner Pat Driscoll, and LHNA
members.
The scenic vista from the Round Top of downtown
Syracuse is open again. For many decades,
overgrown trees have blocked this view. It is now
have the best unobstructed view of the business
district, as can be seen from any city park. LHNA
thanks NG for realizing the portion of the park master
plan. We hope this will attract more residents to enjoy
the park.
Another goal of restoring a 360-degree view from the
round top was begun. The volunteers began clearing
brush from the other sides of the round top.
New flower beds were created and planted adjacent to
the proposed site of the new Scenic Outlook Platform.
Day Lilies and other flowering plants will flank the
platform entrance.
